Currently, the Iowa Department of Public Health requires a dental screening for all children prior to starting kindergarten. Dental screenings help with early detection and treatment of dental disease, promote the importance of oral health for school readiness and learning, and contribute to statewide monitoring of oral health.
Your child’s Kindergarten Registration screening will help to make sure he or she starts school free of any dental infection that may interfere with his or her health and performance in school.
We encourage you to schedule your child’s appointment at our Ankeny pediatric dental office as soon as possible. This allows you to beat the back-to-school rush and will give your child time to have any necessary treatment completed before the school year begins.
